Calculate Etsy profit after fees, shipping, and ads.
An Etsy order can look profitable until transaction fees, payment processing, shipping, advertising, and returns are included. The useful number is the profit left per order, not the sale price.
What to include in an Etsy profit calculation
- Customer-facing sale price and any seller-funded discount
- Product or production cost
- Seller-paid shipping and packaging
- Etsy transaction and payment processing fees
- Offsite Ads or other advertising cost allocated per order
- A reserve for refunds, replacements, and returns
Fee rules can depend on your seller account, location, payment setup, and product context. Check Etsy’s official fee documentation before using a rate for a business decision.

Use a per-order model
Start with the latest fee rate shown in your account or settlement report. If your advertising report shows a total spend for a period, divide it by attributed orders to estimate the ad cost per order before entering it in the calculator.
Keep the calculator assumption visible
A fee calculator should make its assumptions easy to change. Profit Meter shows the preset as an example, lets you edit every fee, and displays the verification date so you can revisit the calculation when Etsy changes its policies.
